Itinerary

Day
1

Day 1: Arrival Bogota

Arrive into El Dorado International Airport and transfer to your hotel in the upscale Zona Rosa or Chapinero Alto districts. Top luxury choices include Casa Medina, an elegant 1940s mansion hotel dripping in old-world charm, or the contemporary W Bogotá for a more modern aesthetic. Bogota sits at a lung-testing 2,600 metres above sea level, so take this first afternoon entirely at your own pace — a gentle stroll, a light meal, and an early night is the wisest approach. The city can wait. Rest well tonight; tomorrow Bogotá reveals itself in full.

Day
2

Day 2: Bogotá City Exploration

A full day discovering one of South America's most underrated capitals. Begin with a private guided tour of La Candelaria, Bogotá's historic colonial heart — narrow streets, striking churches, and layers of fascinating history at every turn. The Gold Museum (Museo del Oro) is an absolute must, housing the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian gold and one of Colombia's great cultural treasures. Afterwards, take the cable car up to Monserrate for sweeping panoramic views over the sprawling city below. End the day with dinner in the Zona Rosa — Criterion for refined contemporary Colombian cuisine, or the legendary Andrés Carne de Res for a truly unforgettable Bogotá dining experience.

Day
3

Day 3: Bogotá to Villa de Leyva

After breakfast, a private transfer of around three hours heads north into the Boyacá department, the landscape gradually shifting from urban sprawl to high desert plateau. Arrive in Villa de Leyva, one of Colombia's most immaculately preserved colonial towns, and check in to a boutique luxury property — Hotel Casa Quintero or La Roca Hotel Boutique both offer exceptional character and comfort. Spend the afternoon exploring the magnificent Plaza Mayor — one of the largest cobblestoned plazas in all of Latin America — lined with whitewashed buildings and utterly unhurried in atmosphere. A leisurely dinner in town makes for a perfect, gentle introduction to this remarkable place.

Day
4

Day 4: Villa de Leyva Exploration

A full day to explore Villa de Leyva and its fascinating surroundings at leisure. Begin with a visit to the Casa Museo Luis Alberto Acuña, celebrating one of Colombia's most beloved artists, before heading out of town on a private excursion to El Fósil — an extraordinary museum built around a remarkably intact 110-million-year-old kronosaurus fossil discovered in the surrounding desert. In the afternoon, visit the otherworldly landscape of the nearby Pozo Azul and the ancient Templo del Sol at Iguaque. Return to town for a sunset drink on the plaza — few moments in Colombian travel are more quietly perfect than this.

Day
5

Day 5: Transfer to Coffee Triangle

Today involves a transfer back towards Bogotá before flying to Pereira Airport in the heart of the Coffee Triangle — allow a full day for comfortable travel. Upon arrival, transfer directly to your luxury finca hotel in the Quindío countryside. Properties like Hacienda Bambusa or Sazagua are among the finest in the region — working haciendas surrounded by coffee and banana plantations, with exceptional food, beautifully appointed rooms, and genuine warmth of service. Spend the evening settling in, sipping locally grown coffee on the veranda as the mountains glow in the last of the day's light. The Coffee Triangle announces itself immediately and magnificently.

Day
6

Day 6: Coffee Farm & Salento

Immerse yourself fully in Colombia's most iconic cultural landscape today. Begin with a private coffee farm tour at your hacienda or a nearby finca — following the bean from plant to cup, learning the art of picking, washing, drying, and roasting in the hands of expert local farmers. This is one of those experiences that permanently changes how you drink your morning coffee. Afterwards, transfer to the charming hilltop town of Salento — its streets lined with colourful wooden balconies and artisan shops. Browse the craft market on the main plaza, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and return to the finca for a relaxed evening.

Day
7

Day 7: Valle de Cocora

Today's centrepiece is one of Colombia's most extraordinary natural landscapes. The Valle de Cocora, just outside Salento, is home to the towering wax palm — Colombia's national tree and the tallest palm species on earth, rising up to 60 metres from the mist-draped valley floor. A private guided hike through the valley, past cloud forest, humming birds, and rushing rivers, is an experience of rare beauty. The scenery feels almost prehistoric in its scale and drama. Return to Salento for lunch before heading back to your finca for a well-earned afternoon by the pool. The Coffee Triangle has saved its finest moment for day seven.

Day
8

Day 8: Fly to Cartagena

A final leisurely morning at the finca — one last coffee on the veranda, one last walk through the plantation. Then transfer to Pereira Airport for your short domestic flight to Cartagena Arrive into the Caribbean heat and transfer to your hotel in the Walled City. The Sofitel Santa Clara — a magnificently restored 17th-century convent — is the undisputed grande dame of Cartagena luxury. Hotel Casa San Agustín and Tcherassi Hotel are equally beautiful boutique alternatives. Spend the evening on a rooftop terrace with a cold drink, watching the sun melt into the Caribbean sky. Cartagena makes an immediate and lasting impression.

Day
9

Day 9: Cartagena Old City & Getsemaní

A full day exploring the two most captivating neighbourhoods in Cartagena. Begin with a private guided tour of the Walled City — the imposing fortifications, the Plaza de Bolívar, the Gold and Silver Museum, and the famous flower-laden colonial balconies that make this city so visually extraordinary. After a long lunch on a shaded terrace, cross into Getsemaní — once the city's working-class barrio, now one of Latin America's most vibrant creative neighbourhoods, alive with world-class street art, independent cafés, and a wonderful creative energy. Wander without agenda, duck into galleries, and end the afternoon with a cold beer watching the neighbourhood come alive as evening falls.

Day
10

Day 10: Rosario Islands

Today belongs entirely to the Caribbean Sea. Charter a private speedboat or catamaran to the Islas del Rosario — a stunning coral archipelago about 45 minutes offshore, where the water shifts between vivid shades of turquoise, emerald, and deep blue. Bypassing the group tours entirely, a private charter means you set the pace and choose your anchorages. Snorkel pristine coral reefs, swim in crystal-clear water, and enjoy a freshly prepared seafood lunch on the islands. The contrast of white sand, coral gardens, and brilliant Caribbean sky is as good as it gets anywhere in South America. Return to Cartagena late afternoon, sun-kissed and utterly relaxed, with a final evening of exceptional dining ahead.

Day
11

Day 11: Cartagena at Leisure

A gloriously unscheduled final full day in Cartagena — the best kind. Sleep in, enjoy a long breakfast at your hotel, and let the city come to you. Consider a spa morning at the Sofitel or a cooking class exploring Caribbean Colombian cuisine. Browse the craft shops and boutiques of the Old City for gifts and keepsakes — local emeralds, handwoven mochila bags, and artisan ceramics all make beautiful souvenirs. In the afternoon, walk the city walls as the light turns golden, and raise a glass at Café del Mar for one of Cartagena's legendary sunsets. End with a final dinner at Carmen or La Vitrola — two restaurants that deserve to be on any serious food lover's radar.

Day
12

Day 12: Depart Cartagena

A final Colombian morning before transferring to Rafael Núñez International Airport for your onward flight. If time permits, one last coffee on the hotel terrace and a slow walk through the Old City streets — always beautiful in the early morning light before the day's heat and activity builds. Cartagena has a way of making departure feel genuinely bittersweet. From here, connect to Bogotá for international connections, or fly directly to your next destination. Colombia will have revealed itself across eleven extraordinary nights as one of South America's most dynamic, beautiful, and deeply rewarding countries — and almost certainly one you will want to return to.
